A Few Good Books

When I actually have time to read, I read really good books!  Here are a few of my favorites:

A Few Good Books...

These are some of my favorites.  I need to find time to follow up with more of Ken Follett's books and Bill Bryson's books.  Aztec and Sacajawea are both historical fiction and got me interested in Native American history, so I got a few more books of this genre that I plan on reading when I get the chance.  Trail of Tears : The Rise and Fall of the Cherokee Nation by John Ehle is one of them.

A Few Good Authors...

Ever so often I find an author that I stick with for a while.  When I was in middle and high school I became infatuated with the Shannara series by Terry Brooks.  Then in college I started reading everything Dean Koontz wrote.  It took me a while to realize how terribly predictable Dean Koontz was - someone or something was going to be terrorized by some monster with ESP in California.  I couldn't wait for each of his books to come out, I think I read about fifteen or so of them before I began to start looking for a different genre, or at least a change of pace.  But it was fun while it lasted.  I also really got into John Grisham for a while.  He always had the best stories as far as corruption in big firms was concerned.  Stephen King always kind of disturbed me a little, but I have to admit reading one of his books, Desperation; all I can say about this book is that I can't believe someone actually thought this up and wrote it down.  After I finished it I was going to begin The Regulators.  This was a book by Stephen King under his "other" name, Richard Bachman.  It had a lot of the same characters, but playing different parts.  At least I think anyway, I don't think I got past the first few pages.  But, if you like that kind of thing, I guess I have to say that Desperation was really scary.
